Industry statistics show that there are more than 5500 automotive repair workshops and companies in the province of Alberta alone. These include both stand-alone businesses as well as those with two or more employees.
If you’re someone located in Alberta, Edmonton to be specific, and are looking for an auto repair service, how would you be able to gauge the quality of service to expect? How would you figure out if or not the workshop you’re looking to send your car for repairs or servicing to is going to come through by way of service quality?
If you want to get a sense of the level of services rendered by a particular workshop, there are certain things you could pay attention to. How you feel about these aspects of the auto repair company could well determine how satisfying and beneficial (or not) the service will be.
In today’s world, every serious business has an online presence. What this would include is contact details and reviews/testimonials (if possible). Social media accounts on one or more platforms are also a good way to gauge how a service may be via the frequency of posts, responses, and client comments, etc.
It also helps to ask around to see what people think of the service; reputation says a lot in this industry.
If the auto repair company or workshop has a well-made website and a positive online presence as well as positive customer reviews, it’s a good sign.
The next thing to look into is their basic customer service etiquette and response times. Not that you need to be groomed to the hilt in order to be good at your profession. We’re talking more about the basics. Are the service professionals or whoever responds to your queries polite, helpful and straightforward? Do you feel communicating with them will be easy post your first meeting? Good communication is important!
This one is arguably the most important aspect of any auto repair service provider. How skilled, well trained and experiences is a team or individual who is going to be working on your vehicle. The reason we have mentioned these three aspects is because they are not the same. Someone possessing all three would be ideal. It is not necessary for someone who has years in the market to be good at what they do. Similarly, someone trained might be lacking in experience. Find an auto repair service provider who has a healthy combination of all three!
Of course, you’re not going to expect the kind of cleanliness at an auto repair shop that you would at say a nice restaurant or a hospital! It is after all auto repair so there will be soot, there will be grease and there will be cars parked around with their parts exposed (no pun intended).
What you need to look for is a level of organization and tidiness. Also get a sense of the kind of equipment they have at the place to ensure that they have what they need to address your particular car-related problem.
For the most part, if you’re good on the points above you should be in good hands. That being said, if you want to just make certain all is in order, ask for paperwork. This is not just licenses and insurance but also look at the auto repair workshops documenting system. Do they have records, are they organized, is proof of business provided, do they provide transparent bills with cost breakdowns?
If everything above is in order, you should be good to go. Further, if you’re on our side of the Alberta, our side being Edmonton, we cover everything from tire to transmission repair as well as a range of other extensive auto repair services so just come on over!
